Description

wood, honey brown patina, black paint, the body extremely inclined to the front, supporting the slender drum between the legs, fixed by a (carved) rope around the waist, upturned face, rep. (continuous crack: drum, rope, right elbow, left hand), missing parts (foot zone, base), crack, metal plate;
the Bembe live in the southeastern borderland of the Kivu province, they form a complex ethnical entity, in combining various cultural traditions. Only little is known on their culture and art.
