Description
conical wooden core, coated with cloth, twisted grass fibre rings and bead bracelets, decorated with strings of glass beads, coiffure of dyed plant fibre;
the skill of making dolls is passed on from the mother to the daughter, as well as the doll itself. The dolls outward appearance is based on clothing once worn at initiation rites, which consists of bundles of twisted grass fibres rings.
The object Fertilty doll “gimwane” with the object ID 3037403 was last part of the auction 78th tribal art auction at October 18, 2014 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 128 achieved a sales price of EUR 400.
