Description

wood, black paint,
This figure can clearly be attributed to the Egbado artist Akinola from Joga Orile, who lived in the first half of the 20th century.

The triangular indentations on the shoulders are an unmistakable identifying feature, which, according to Hans Witte, we can virtually call “the signature” of this master.

Another, almost identical figure of his hand is published in Polo’s standard work and is rated there as a figure of high rarity (Polo, 2008, ill. 173 / AHDRC 0106525).

The object Female twin figure “ere ibeji” with the object ID 3048375 was part of the auction 97th Auction on November 6, 2021. The object with the lot number 259 achieved a sales price of EUR 2,000 with an asking price of EUR 600.
