Description

wood, black paint,
This figure can clearly be attributed to the Egbado artist Akinola from Joga Orile, who lived in the first half of the 20th century.

The triangular indentations on the shoulders are an unmistakable identifying feature, which, according to Hans Witte, we can virtually call “the signature” of this master.

Another, almost identical figure of his hand is published in Polo’s standard work and is rated there as a figure of high rarity (Polo, 2008, ill. 173 / AHDRC 0106525).
