Description

wood, brown patina, remains of indigo blue pigment, camwood powder, four strings with coconut discs around the hips, glass bead necklaces around neck and ankles, originally metal tag eyes (now missing), typical Oyo “ibeji” with characteristic tribal marks on the face (“keke”) and scarification marks on the belly, grooves running around the base, facial features abraded by repeated feeding procedures, slightly dam. (ears, coiffure backside);
in the style of the Igbuke family of carvers.
