Description

wood, heart-shaped deepened facial plane, dyed in reddish brown, black and white, camwood powder in some areas, slightly dam., paint rubbed off, some drilled holes around the rim broken out, metal base;
the Pende people are living at the left bank of the the Kasai river. They became well known for their big masks, like “pumpu” and “giphogo”, rather than for their triangular miniature masks.
