“Putchu guinadji” are talismans that are supposed to bring good luck to their wearer, but above all to offer protection from evil spirits.

Numbering about 100000 people, the Kotoko have their settling area in the northernmost edge of Cameroon and adjacent parts of Nigeria and Tchad.


The object Equestrian figure “putchu guinadji” with the object ID 3046682 was part of the auction 94th Tribal Art Auction on March 7, 2020. The object with the lot number 293 achieved a sales price of EUR 800 with an asking price of EUR 500.
