Description

ivory, incised with various scenes of every day life (hunting scenes, different humans and animals), the motifs are accentuated by black colour, signature “ZAZA FALE” (?) at the lower part, socle;
it was played at the court and represented royal power and presence. The trumpets were played when the king and his wife performed a dance called “mabolo”. Furtheron they announced the king’s victories.


The object Engraved horn with the object ID 3034406 was last part of the auction 72nd tribal art auction at March 9, 2013 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 455 achieved a sales price of EUR 2,200.
