Description

wood, middle- and dark brown patina, animal drum skin, cylindrical corpus rising from a waisted foot, the upper part covered with incised geometrical ornaments and a mask face, min. dam., small missing parts, crack (base), traces of usage and abrasion;
each Kuba town has a set of dance drums that are played for entertainment and for ceremonial occasions. The decoration on the drums reflects the wealth and prestige of a given community.
