Description

wood, matt patina, polychrome paint, a rectangular panel with a superimposed female figure in half relief, min. dam., small missing parts (foot tips), fine cracks, traces of abrasion;
the panel was part of a door ornament of a chief’s hut. Traditionally, one doorpost is a female figure, and the other is either a male figure or a crocodile. The lintel usually depicts the head of a buffalo, indicating the power of the chief.
