The “ittarma” dolls, made by the Chanten and Mansen, served as temporary shelters for the souls of the deceased and were revered accordingly.

The ‘“ittarma” were kept either in forest shrines or in wooden boxes located in the attic of the house or on a special wall shelf opposite the entrance to the house.


The object Doll “ittarma” with the object ID 3052462 was part of the auction Auction 105 on November 15, 2025. The object with the lot number 191 achieved a sales price of EUR 520 with an asking price of EUR 400.
