Description

wood, dark brown patina, abstract form, massive cylindrical corpus, surmounted by four angled legs supporting an arching disc on top, decorated with linear patterns, min. dam., traces of insect caused damage and abrasion;
twins play important roles in Luba and Tabwa histories and beliefs as culture heroes. A proxy for a deceased twin, a twin figure is fed, bathed, loved and put to bed with the living twin.
