Headrests were very personal objects. They became closely linked with the owner’s identity over a lifetime of use. Upon the death of its owner, the headrest is either buried with him or passed on to a male heir.


The object Delicate head- / neckrest “mutsago” with the object ID 3046375 was part of the auction 94th Tribal Art Auction on March 7, 2020. The object with the lot number 104 achieved a sales price of EUR 4,800 with an asking price of EUR 3,000.
