Description
light brown wood, matt patina, remains of pigments, elongated corpus with a flattened slightly vaulted back, min. dam., missing parts through insect caused damage, cracks, traces of abrasion.
“Syonfolo” - the “Master of the Horse” seizes the dance horse between his legs when he appears at “ngoro” ceremonies. Two straps across the shoulders keep the horse in position. The masquerade is completed by a net-like costume with long leatherstrips with seeds attached, swirling around his body when dancing.
The object Dance horse “syon” with the object ID 3042688 was last part of the auction 87th Tribal Art Auction at November 11, 2017 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 270 achieved a sales price of EUR 800.
