Description

wood, polychrome paint, in shape of a human head rising from a long neck, presenting two rows of teeth, min. dam., cracks, traces of abrasion, on wooden base;
the Igalas principal cult “egu” is connected with the ancestors who are remembered during yam harvest. The “egu” (spirit of the dead) is represented by masks and headdresses called “ojegu”.


The object Dance crest “ojegu” with the object ID 3032968 was last part of the auction 69th tribal art auction at June 2, 2012 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 325 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,500.
