Description

h-shaped handle with two crossbars, double-edged pointed blade, sheath made from light wood, stretched with red fabric, the tip reinforced with metal, min. dam., slight traces of corrosion and usage;
because the “katar’s” blade is in line with the user’s arm, the basic attack is a direct thrust identical to a punch, although it could also be used for slashing. This design allows the fighter to put their whole weight into a thrust. Typical targets include the head and upper body, similar to boxing. The sides of the handle could be used for blocking but it otherwise has little defensive capability.

The object Dagger “katar” with the object ID 3042214 was part of the auction 86th Tribal Art Auction on May 27, 2017. The object with the lot number 107 achieved a sales price of EUR 650 with an asking price of EUR 300.
