Description
wood, dark brown patina, kaolin, strings with white miniature glass beads around the hips, fabric loincloth (male figure), slender bodies with the arms close to the body, variable coiffures, female with tribal marks, slightly dam., cracks, side by side attached on plate;
when a pair of figures is carved together, they cannot possibly represent spirit-spouses (which are always single pieces). They are inevitably spirits of nature, so-called “asie usu” and were used together by a trance diviner “komien”.
