Genre painting: three tipis and group of figures, vast landscape and cloud formations in the background, printed: “Ch. Bodmer pina at nat.” - “Imp. de Bougeard” - “Salathé & Hurlimann sc.”, title (ger./fr./engl.), passepartout in green linen, glazed/framed, m: 32 cm x 23 cm/48,5 cm x 40,5 cm (including frame), slightly yellowed.

Although born to German speaking Swiss parents, Karl Bodmer settled near Paris upon his return to Europe from America. He became a citizen of France and thereafter signed his art as “Ch.” or “Charles” Bodmer.
