Description

wood, shiny brown patina, black spots, the beating zone decorated with incised zigzag patterns and notched ornaments, min. dam., small missing parts, fine cracks, slight traces of abrasion;
used as weapon in combat, if the need arose, a Fijian chief could deploy the “bowai” to “discipline” his wife.
