Description

gold (15 carat), hemispherical, with twelve thorn-like projections and engravings, minor missing parts in the cast.
An important Akan chief, on occasion, may wear a cast-gold ring on each finger and on each thumb. Rings bring even more attention to the hands and help amplify their expressive potential. The hand is one of the most expressive parts of the human body and is integral to the rich Akan arts of gesture and dance.


The object Chiefs ring “mpetea” with the object ID 3042796 was last part of the auction 87th Tribal Art Auction at November 11, 2017 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 277 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,500.
