This figure wears an elaborate crown, identifying him as a chief or “mwanangana”, which translates to “ruler” of the land.

Unusually, a second, smaller mask-like face is carved on the back of the head, individually designed.


The object Chief figure “mwanangana” with the object ID 3052650 was last part of the auction Auction 105 at November 15, 2025 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 384 achieved a sales price of EUR 3,000.
