Description

wood, brown patina, remains of black paint, encrusted in some areas, iron blade, figural carved shaft, beautiful detail: blade base in shape of animal heads (birds?), min. dam., cracks, abrasion of paint, base;
ceremonial axes are dedicated to “ogun”, the deity of iron and war, sometimes to “shango”, the god of thunder.
