Description

wood, brown patina, iron, handle in shape of an equestrian figure, bell-shaped blade projecting to the back, emerging from a disc-shaped superstructure the figure carries on the head, slightly dam., missing parts at the base, cracks, rep. (lance), corrosion, base;
ceremonial axes are dedicated to “ogun”, the deity of iron and war, sometimes to “shango”, the god of thunder.
