Description

light wood, matt black patina, in shape of a female figure with massive upper part of the body (striking strong upper arms), lower part of the body and tube-like bent legs amalgamated with the disc-shaped base, rich decor with tribal marks at the stomach, dam. (nose, mouth), eyes originally with inlay (?), cracks (seat, base), traces of insect caused damage;
a work by the same artist can be found in the Clark and Frances Stillman Collection, which was donated to the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts in 1969.


The object Caryatid stool “kihona”, before 1920 with the object ID 3042388 was last part of the auction 86th Tribal Art Auction at May 27, 2017 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 429 achieved a sales price of EUR 3,940.
