Description

wood, reddish brown patina, white pigment, flat lancet-shaped corpus, the head piece in shape of a lance blade, decorated with incised delicate ornaments, accentuated by white pigment rubbed into the deepenings, drilled hole on top, slightly dam., on metal base;
the bullroarer’s primary purpose was to act as security for the clan, warning them of an impending attack.


The object Bull roarer “kaiavuru” with the object ID 3033178 was part of the auction 70th tribal art auction on September 8, 2012. The object with the lot number 44 achieved a sales price of EUR 500 with an asking price of EUR 450.
