Description

wood, painted in black, red and white, carved with typical ornaments accentuated by paint (concentric circles, cross pattern), cord for additionally fixing the mask with the teeth on the backside, slightly dam. (snout), rep. (horns with three breakages), cracks, abrasion of paint.
The animal masks represent “spirits of the wild” a lineage feels special relatedness with and expects protection of the field work.


The object Buffalo mask with the object ID 3042802 was last part of the auction 87th Tribal Art Auction at November 11, 2017 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 216 achieved a sales price of EUR 600.
