Description

bronze,

The figure shows Buddha sitting in the lotus position “padmasana”, deeply absorbed in meditation. The right hand shows the gesture of “bhumisparsa mudra” typical of the historical Buddha, which symbolises the moment of Prince Siddhartha’s enlightenment under the Bodhi tree.

Buddha wears “ushnisha” as a sign of wisdom on his curly hair, crowned by the flame of enlightenment. Long earlobes testify to his noble origins. He wears a robe with borders and shoulder jewellery.
