Description
wickerwork mask, dyed with red, black and white pigment and crowned by a wooden hornbill beak, attached to the shell of a giant “turbo marmoratus” snail, good condition, on base;
the complete object is kept and used by the Yangoru or traded to the Iatmul, who use these composite works of art as bride-prices.
