Description

leather, ivory, red pigment, leather band, sewn with six “omakipas” of variable shape and size (oval, pyramidal, square), min. dam., fine cracks through age;
the number of “omakipa” badges a young man gave his fiancée depended on his wealth and the number of cows he owned. Even the incised patterns had a special meaning.


The object Bridal belt with the object ID 3038490 was part of the auction 81st Tribal Art Auction on October 31, 2015. The object with the lot number 533 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,600 with an asking price of EUR 450.
