Description

plant fibres, wood,

These shields were used for warfare in the past.

Their use continues today in “nggwun” war dances. In some Cameroon Mambila villages, this dance is closely related to the investiture of chiefs and is performed when the chief restates his oath of office and sears not to abuse his position.
