wood,
“Duyu” were used primarily for drinking rice wine, which was consumed lavishly during rituals.

The intoxicating characteristic of alcohol was supposed to help the priest reach an altered state of awareness faciliating “possession” by the spirits.

The scalloped rim, typical of this type of bowl, was intended to facilitate drinking.
