Description

wood, reddish brown patina, hook-shaped, on both sides covered by incised lines, cross fluted on either end, slightly dam.;
the Australian boomerang eliminated the need to carry a number of different tools. It was used as a knife, a hammer or club, a digging tool, for making fire by friction, for musical accompaniment as a percussion instrument - as well as its main function as a hunting or fighting weapon. Beyond their obvious utilitarian functions, Aboriginal boomerangs often serve as objects of social and religious significance.

The object Boomerang with the object ID 3040162 was last part of the auction 82nd Tribal Art Auction at February 27, 2016 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house and had the lot number 94.
