This mask is similar to the Koranko body masks for boys (cf. Carey, 2007, p. 46, Fig. 27), except that these are usually larger.

They are the property of the “poro” society and represent bush spirits which are called “nyenne” by the Koranko.


The object Body mask of “poro” society with the object ID 3048908 was part of the auction 98th Auction on March 26, 2022, lot number 148 at that time and is currently available for EUR 500 in Open sale.
