wood, clay-like mass, pumpkin, metal, cowrie shells, cloth, big anthropomorphic figure, bulgy calabash in front of the body and on the back, flanked by smaller accompaning figures, tied with plant fibre strings and spread with thick layers of clay-like mass, hung with iron chain and stud with iron objects, strong sacrificial traces, feathers, slightly dam., missing parts through insect caused damage, cracks;
“Bochios” are guardian figures and should keep away evil spirits. Therefore they were provided with magial substances and received various sacrifices in order to consecrate them.
