wood, light brown patina, high-legged, craning head with long pointed beak, slightly dam., crack, abrasion of paint, base;
aside of anthropomorphic “bateba” figures the Lobi carved various animal sculptures, mostly birds, which served to protect their owner by warning him of threatening danger.
