mask, wood, greyish brown patina, red pigment, h: 22 cm, anthropomorphic facial features combined with a broad snout and large ears, minor missing part (chin projection); in addition: standing figure, Pare/Tanzania, wood, black patina, h: 16,2 cm, incised ornaments, fine cracks, abrasion of paint, base;
figures like the present served soothsayers, healers and sorcerers in carrying out their practices.
