wood, brown patina, boat-shaped corpus with plug-shaped handle at the rear end, deepened diamond-shaped decor, slightly dam. (tip), minor missing parts (rim), old rep. (crack at the bottom partly filled with reddish mass), base.
Belonged to the standard equipment of a canoe to scoop out water in the event of capsizing or flooding.
Vahitahi, or Vaitake, is an atoll in the eastern area of the Tuamotu Archipelago. It measures approximately 41 kilometres in length and has a maximum width of 4.5 kilometres.
