This mask may be a representation of the executioner “pumbu” or a chief’s mask “fumu”. Both mask types show a very similar physiognomy and both wear hairstyles with conical protruding prongs.


The object Anthropomorphic mask “mbuya” with the object ID 3048719 was last part of the auction 98th Auction at March 26, 2022 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 89 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,200.
