Hayden & Odette Walling, USA, collected in situ in the 1950’s;
Hayden Walling worked as administrator of the World Health Organization in Kpain, Liberia. He and his wife Odette befriended Dr. George Harley, the prolific field collector and author of the monograph Notes on the Poro in Liberia (1941) who advised them on their collecting.

wood, matt greyish brown patina, encrustations with camwood powder on face and reverse side, red and a brown band of fabric across the forehead, a further strip of cloth with inserted feathers straight across the chin, two silver metal teeth, unusual sickle-shaped eyes, short nose and forehead ridge, drilled holes around the rim, slightly dam., crack, base
