The Widekum live in the border region of Cameroon and Nigeria - in the western Grassfields, at the headwaters of the Cross River.
According to Keith Nicklin, this mask was worn during funeral rites for members of the ‘nchibbe’ - a society of warriors.
The object Anthropomorphic helmet mask “agwe” with the object ID 3051888 was part of the auction Auction 104 on April 12, 2025, lot number 333 at that time and is currently available for EUR 3,000 in Open sale.
