antelope masks “karikpo” are used at the beginning of the farming season in ceremonies honouring the local founding ancestor. The mask is worn by a dancer who incorporates racing and graceful acrobatics into his performance and is accompanied by a dancer wearing an “ugly” mask who behaves in a wild and erratic fashion.
The object Antelope mask “karikpo” with the object ID 3041731 was part of the auction 86th Tribal Art Auction on May 27, 2017. The object with the lot number 37 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,600 with an asking price of EUR 1,500.
