According to an Ijebu legend, an antelope was tied to a tree on the riverbank and its head decorated with grasses and vines. When the water spirits began to drag the antelope into the water, they were entangled in the vegetation. Up to this day, they struggle to free themselves and, in the process, stir the waters and make them rough.
