Description

wood, dark brown patina, leather collar, elongated head with pointed backswept horns, rep. (calotte), min. dam., traces of insect caused damage, fissures;
the “tjiwara” mask dancer wears a shaggy tunic, braided with long black fibre with cotton tassels and a cap of cotton or plant fibre weaving. Present “tjiwara” belongs to the horizontal (female) type, which can mostly be found in the Western Bamana region.


The object Antelope dancecrest “tjiwara” with the object ID 3032264 was last part of the auction 68th tribal art auction at March 3, 2012 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 150 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,300.
