Description

wood, blackish brown patina, kaolin (yellowed), small remains of indigo blue, stylized forms, boar tusks and conical protrusions, presumably depicting a warthog, slightly dam., paint rubbed off;
although the Ligbi are Muslims for quiet a long time, they retained the “do” secret society and their masquerades, where “leu” masks like the present performed.


The object Animal mask “leu” with the object ID 3032248 was last part of the auction 68th tribal art auction at March 3, 2012 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house and had the lot number 170.
