Description

bronze, base

Related bells, occasionally found in pairs, were discovered in various Bronze Age sites in Northeastern Thailand, in neighbouring Laos and Cambodia.

This pair is exquisitely cast and in a superb state of preservation.

The exact purpose of these bells is not known, but must have been
ritual, as their finesse would prevent them from a more mundane use.

The object A superb pair of “Buffalo Bells", Bronze Age, ca. 300 BC – 300 AD with the object ID 3052700 was last part of the auction Auction 105 at November 15, 2025 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house and had the lot number 83.
